Registered Nurse (RN ST)
Nursing Service - NS-Stroke Unit
7:00 AM-7:00 PM
This 6 bed Stroke Intermediate Care Unit monitors and cares for moderately stable patients. It offers a challenging and fast-past environment to the motivated professional. The patients admitted to this unit may require titrating drips, extensive stroke assessments and invasive/noninvasive monitoring. These patients require a higher level of care than the typical medical/surgical patient, but they will not require admission to the Intensive Care Unit. The lower nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 allows the nurse to collaborate with the healthcare delivery team, the patients, and their families for a coordinated plan of care. Support staff is available on this unit to maximize and compliment the team. Your orientation will be individualized, and you will be cross-trained to Stepdown and ICU. You will be required to work every other weekend and some holidays. ACLS is preferred but may be obtained through our Career Institute free of charge to employees. You will also be required to attend our Stroke Academy to become stroke certified and 8 hours of stroke education is required every year.
