Nursing Service - NS-Stroke Unit

This 6 bed Stroke Intermediate Care Unit monitors and cares for moderately stable patients. It offers a challenging and fast-past environment to the motivated professional. The patients admitted to this unit may require titrating drips, extensive stroke assessments and invasive monitoring. Typically, a higher level of care than the typical medical/surgical patient, but they will not require admission to the Intensive Care Unit. The lower nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 allows the nurse to collaborate with the healthcare delivery team, the patients, and their families for a coordinated plan of care. Support staff is available on this unit to maximize and compliment the team. This position requires 2 years of Critical Care/Stepdown experience. Responsibilities as charge nurse will include but not limited to: patient assignments, delegating appropriate tasks to staff nurses and ancillary staff, being a role model and leader, and being a resource for other members of the health care team. Will also be responsible for TJC follow up and core measure qualities. This position requires working a 5/2 schedule. New employees receive a comprehensive hospital orientation and unit specific orientation with a preceptor for 1:1 instruction. ACLS is preferred as well as NIHSS certification.
