Description:
This exciting cardiac stepdown unit offers opportunities for nurses to learn assessment skills and critical thinking while caring for patients with cardiac disease. Patients on this floor may have had or need procedures like CABG, valve replacement, vascular surgery, VATS, etc. Titration of cardiac drips and management of arterial lines are some of the advanced skills that can be learned on this floor. Nurses choosing this unit will have the opportunity to earn certifications such as ACLS and Stroke. You will also attend a critical care course during orientation. The nursing staff on this unit welcomes newcomers and are eager to share their nursing knowledge. Ancillary staff, including unit clerks, nursing assistants, and a cardiac rehab tech complete this nursing team. Staffing ratios on this unit are one nurse to 3-4 patients. Willis-Knighton is proud to offer a Nurse Residency Program for new graduates. Orientation is a one-on-one nurse program lasting up to 12-weeks.
