Nursing Service - NS-2 North-Stepdown
7:00 AM-7:00 PM
This high acuity 25-bed medical stepdown unit provides opportunities for nurses to gain assessment and critical thinking skills. Patients on this unit require increased monitoring and nursing care and may have a diagnosis of sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, DKA, etc. Also found on this floor may be patients post heart cath or bariatric surgery. Titrating drips and managing arterial lines are some of the advanced skills learned on this floor. Ancillary staff, including unit clerks and nursing assistants, complete this nursing team. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3-4. Nurses choosing this unit will have the opportunity to earn certifications such as ACLS and Stroke; you will also attend a critical care course during orientation. Willis-Knighton is proud to offer a Nurse Residency Program for new graduates. Orientation is a one-on-one nurse program lasting up to 12-weeks.
