Location: WK Medical Center Department: Nursing Service - NS-Patient Care 3N Classification: Full-Time Shift: 7:00 PM-7:00 AM Date Posted: 4/25/2023 Description: If you are looking to apply your skills and leadership in your nursing career, this Charge Nurse position may be a perfect fit. In addition to caring for patients and administering medication, the Charge Nurse acts as a resource for the nurses working under him/her.  Chemotherapy certification will be required and can be obtained with us at The Cancer Center. The charge nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting and exhibits a sense of accountability through attendance, promptness and a role model for work activity.  The job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  assigns personnel in accordance with their assessment of patient acuity levels on an ongoing basis; assesses the patient systematically utilizing verbal and technical nursing skills to establish a basis for patient care; utilizes the assessment data to plan appropriate nursing intervention; implements care based on knowledge of professional standards of nursing practice;  performs bedside care, issues medication(s), administers treatment(s), and assist physicians in treatment(s), examination(s), and patient rounds;  coordinates referrals with physicians, outside agencies and other departments; and regularly accompany the physician on rounds to answer questions, receive instructions, and note special patient care requirements. If you meet the requirements above and demonstrate clinical and management ability, please submit your application.
