Located on the campus of Willis-Knighton Rehabilitation Institute, the Institute for Behavioral Medicine offers inpatient, partial hospitalization and outpatient programs. Currently, we are seeking registered nurses for our inpatient, duel diagnosis unit. On this 34-bed adult psychiatric unit the job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Assessment of patient’s physical and emotional needs, ability to note changes in behavior and initiate appropriate action, medication administration, computerized documentation, and be willing to learn and utilize knowledge of hospital and unit policies accordingly. There is a patient to nurse ratio of 6:1. The candidate will be working closely with a professional team of psychiatrists, medical physicians, psychologists, licensed counselors, social workers, hospital staff, and occupational therapists and family therapists.
Previous psychiatric experience combined with a medical surgical background is our preferred candidate, but a registered nurse with a consistent work history, great communication skills, a sense of humor, and exhibits appropriate professional behavior will be given strong consideration. Orientation will begin in the Career Institute and will continue on the unit. The length of your orientation will be determined by the candidate's experience and level of comfort.
